Just Another Day Without You [1992]

Great song from Jon Secada in 1992.

In life it is very easy to fall into the trap of feeling helpless, like their is no way out, and in these times it is where your personal self esteem is tested; are you strong enough to get yourself out of this predicament?

This is my interpretation of this song, not neceassarily a transliteration, but a perceptual opinion. Nice background music, mellow, sad, and to some extent emotional as you wonder about the well being of your nearest and dearest.

Life is meaningless without love. Love is a very poweful dimesension in itself, as it not only complements over emotional dimensions such as joy, happiness, loneliness, anger but it also gives them substance.

Pure [1990]

A great song by the Lightning Seeds from their 1990 album cloudcuckooland.

This song takes you away from the material world, and brings you home to the joys of something that cannot be bought, things that are natural and pure, and one's which cannot be priced.

Dreams, emotions, thoughts, visions, night skies, rainbows, moonlight, sunrise, happiness. ie A troublefree world.

The Miracle Of Love [1986]

The Eurythmics were probably one of the greatest bands ever to span the eighties, and this was backed up by their superb album Revenge.

One of my personal favourites was the reflective Miracle of Love in 1986. Just listen to the lyrics and ponder...

"How many times do you try and hide?

In a world of illusion that's covering your mind..."

Kabhi Hasna Hai Kabhi Rona Hai [2002]

From the film Dil Hai Tumhaara

Jeevan Sukh Dukh Ka Sangam Hai.

These words describe the unfathomable of emotions one endures at the lowest point in their life. Only someone who has experienced such trauma, loss, bereavement ... will be able to empathise with this one and unquestionably concur. A Kumar Sanu classic, beautifully sung.

Every Breath You Take [1983]

Released on the album Synchronicity by the Police, this was a hit track.

Surprisingly, there was little variation in Sting's bassline, and similarly there was an arpeggio pattern to Andy Summers lead guitar chors, giving the track its distinct summer tune.

1983 was a great year, the eighties music was great, I was at college, sometimes out on my bike in the summer with my childhood friend Terry who has unfortunately now died.

This song takes me back to the good young times.

Puff Daddy also did a good rap version of this a decade later in memory to his friend.

Chura Liya Hai Tum Ne Jo Dil Ko [1973]

This was a smash hit in 1973 as it had a very catchy western tune for an Indian song, and was to be credited as Asha Bhosle's signature tune.

This song was launched by the seventies film Yaadon Ki Baaraat which I saw with my father and mother and sisters straight after it was released at the Coliseum Cinema on Dudley Road, Wolverhampton in 1973.

The Coliseum Cinema was a regular event for Asians on a weekend, in the days when the cinema was the only connection back to the eastern world, besides the odd hourly current affairs/educational programme hosted by BBC on an early Sunday morning.

Gone are those days, but those memories last forever.
