Castles In The Sky [2001]

Got to admit I am a great fan of selective Trance club anthems from the 90's era, however the new millenium managed to keep a hold on the genre for a few more years.

Jo Blogs aka Ian Van Dahl gave us this great tune with thought provoking opening lines

"Do You Ever Question Your Life...

Do You Ever Wonder Why..."

Phenomenal, just heard it after a long time and it reminds me of Paul Van Dyke, Rank 1, System F, well how about this for a

Like A Hurricane [1977]

"...I am just a dreamer, but you are just a dream..."

This is one of those ballads that just lets you drift away, somewhere far, somewhere idyllic, to someone ...

The guitar solo(s) to this are on par to Comfortably Numb in my opinion. Thats just my opininion.

In Fact its listed in one of "The greatest guitar solos ever" by quite a few influential rock polls.

I would love to see this guy on Tour and play this song as an encore.

"...I am just a dreamer, but you are just a dream..."

Ghost Riders In The Sky [2007]

St Patricks Day 2007, Nicolas Cage's Ghostrider was pure action plus an excellent soundtrack.

Great film to watch plus some great music scores, its a must see for pure style. Looking forward to GhostRider 2.
Love the bike. Love the leather jacket. Love the music.
Love the action sequences.

Cannot remember how many times I have heard this song covered by different artists as I grew up, but the music is very much a funky country tune.

A Million Miles Away [1974]

The guitar riffs intro to

This hotel bar is full of people.....

is nothing short of sublime.

Rory Gallagher, I wish I had seen him whilst he was around.
This blues song is one you can just listen to, time and time again.
The lyrics describe a journey where you may have been once in your life and can relate to the protagonist with a few drinks or two.

Avalon [1982]

"And the party's over ..."

The background music to this song is very captivating and reflective of an irreplaceable moment from nostalgia.

It is the type of song that you want to listen to on your own and just let your mind drift away, maybe to Avalon!

Definitely one for the late evening or a quiet weekend when you are not in the thick of the rat race.

I'd say this is one of Bryan Ferry's greatest tracks on par with Jealous Guy. Sung effortlessly but with a touch of suave.

Father Figure [1988]

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion of this song, in fact any song. Mine deviates from the norm in this particular instance.

For me its is about the realtionship between a father and a son, where the father will do anything for his son, to protect his future, his innocence, and provide guidance to righteousness.

An excellent song from the excellent album Faith, beautifully composed, and pertinent about relationships.

I hope that I can be equally as influential to my children, and hope to god, that they do well in their lives. Nevertheless, I will be there for them always, to cirrect them from wrong and to provide guidance and reassurance.

Thanks Dad, remeber you always, with love from your Son.

Ek Raasta Hai Zindagi [1979]

"Pain is My Destiny and I Cannot Avoid It"

Fantastic track from the Amitabh Bachchan heydays. This brilliant Kishore Kumar number with great background music, earned him an award for the soundtrack for the film Kaala Patthar.

Definitely, a song to sing with a group of friends when travelling, karaeoke, or even just enjoying the drive through the unchartered roads of the beautiful countryside.

This song takes me back to my youth, the happiness of the good old days, just before the worries of life embarked upon the course of one's part of growing up in life, and realising that there are good and bad days, and one needs to reflect and cherish on the good and learn from the bad.
